About

Seeds of Success is a play-based learning environment at the Acadia Community Association. We maintain a small learning group size, a maximum number of 16, enabling us to connect with children and their families. This also allows us to provide activities and learning areas responsive to children’s interests and passions, supporting them as they unfold developmentally at their own pace.

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

Seeds of Success Early Learning Program is based on Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework named Flight. The program provides a developmentally appropriate and welcoming environment to young children from diverse cultures and backgrounds, allowing them to enhance their social-emotional, physical, and cognitive skills. The program facilitates the children’s development through a child-centred, strength-based approach and recognizes children’s play as a natural interpretation of children’s interests, thoughts, and knowledge. We use play as a motivator of creative thinking and exploration. The ambiance encourages children to develop positive self-image, confidence, and independence. Early years are learning years; we want to make these treasured years full of learning and fun.

Our Aim

We aim to provide our enrolled families with the best full-day child care and school readiness for the children in one program. In Alberta, we can have two different licensing for early learning program types: daycare that can run all day or preschool program that a child can only attend 3.9 hours a day.
At Seeds of Success, we merged the best of both worlds of early learning and childcare: the educational aspects of preschool with the convenience of full-day childcare. This way, parents do not have to pick up children after or within 3.9 hours. Our learning goals are to promote communication, phonological awareness, social language, pre-writing, early literacy, problem-solving, creativity and self-help skills. The mixing of these learning domains is designed to lead each child toward the school-readiness skills necessary to enter Kindergarten successfully and confidently.

Our Community

Our community

We are an early learning program where everyone is welcome and feels a sense of belonging. Our families come from nearby neighbourhoods, creating a close-knit environment and strong parent partnerships. The Seed of Success program is ideal for busy working families, whether close to home or near the office. Our community comprises a wide diversity of people with backgrounds, needs and aspirations.

Our partnership with families is a strength of our program. We always welcome families’ contributions to our program, whether it be the stories shared at drop-off, families’ presence at the program’s event or the questions raised by parents. The combination of parents’ expertise on their child and the teachers’ knowledge about child development significantly and positively affects child-rearing.

“Our job is too difficult and too beautiful to do it alone”

Seeds of Success Story

From our humble beginning as an Alberta Approved Family Day-home in Calgary (2012), we have grown in knowledge and experience. Through our growth, we place children at the heart of all we do, ensuring they enjoy a nurturing environment to develop the intellectual and social skills needed to excel in a rapidly challenging world.
