Sample Daily Schedule

Our daily schedule offers time for children to participate in both indoor, outdoor, group activities and independent child choice activities. 

Welcome to the Seeds of Success​

Welcome and Morning Snacks:

7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Welcome and Morning Snacks: Teachers welcome learners. Our foyer has places for jackets, backpacks, and outdoor footwear. Children will wear indoor shoes, wash their hands, and use the washroom if needed. This is a settling and morning snack time. We provide snacks. As the Canada Food Guide recommends.

Cognitive Transition:

9:05 a.m. – 9:10 a.m.

A quick brain break using music, physical movement, or mindfulness exercises.

School Readiness:

9:10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

The core program is between 9:10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Students will take their nametags, meet on the circle time carpet, and choose a book to read. Once everyone is settled, we move on to our learning activities: Name recognition, calendar, weather, and introduction of new letters and numbers.
The school Readiness program extends by introducing Learning Areas and structured activities for that day or week (depending on the children’s interests, the same activity can be extended for a week or changed the very next day as per children’s interests and questions) and reviewing applicable classroom guidelines.

Cognitive Transition/Washroom Break:

10:30 a.m. – 10:35 a.m.

Outdoor Play

10:35 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Gross motor and fine motor skills Running, climbing, hula-hoop, and balls.

Cognitive Transition:

11:30 a.m. – 11:35 a.m.

A quick brain break using music, physical movement, or mindfulness exercises.

Lunch

11:35 a.m. – 12:05 p.m.

Children begin lunch with hand washing. We serve items from three food groups, as the Canada Food Guide recommends.

Cognitive Transition/Washroom Break:

12:05 p.m. – 12:10 p.m.

Story Time:

12:10 p.m. – 12:35 p.m.

Before the children start for quiet rest time, we read at least one storybook to them.

Quiet/Rest Time:

12:35 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Children will have their resting mats with a maximum of two non-noisy toys (stuffies/ books). Non-nappers will be moved away from the resting children and offered quiet activities.

Cognitive Transition/Washroom Break:

2:30 p.m. – 2:35 p.m.

Learning Areas:

2:35 p.m. – 3:20 p.m.

Children will then choose their activities within learning areas. A variety of developmentally appropriate activities encourage learning in all areas of development.

Cognitive Transition:

3:20 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Afternoon Snacks:

3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

We provide snacks. As the Canada Food Guide recommends.

Cognitive Transition:

4:00 p.m. – 4:05 p.m.

A quick brain break using music, physical movement, or mindfulness exercises.

Review the Day/ Transition to Dismissal:

4:10 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Learners will participate in clean up: categorizing the play materials to related shelves or bins. Then, learners will gather their personal items and come to the circle time carpet, and we will have a wrap-up for the day. Children will receive handouts if available for that date and dismissal.
